Sustainability

All of the produce that goes into our relishes is either grown by us at Silver Chilli or, if needed, sourced from other local growers who have the same ethos for sustainability and environmental concerns.

Our relishes are Vegan with no preservatives, colourings or additives.

Our Pledge

‘At Silver Chilli we are proud to state that we operate our business sustainably and ethically.

We consider the environment, our subsidiary suppliers and the betterment of our ‘local world’ in every action we take.

Supporting ‘Sustainable Food Cornwall’ is a natural step for Silver Chilli.’’

  • Jars

Pattesons Glass is the most environmentally conscious glass manufacturer in the UK and has an enviable sustainability policy. We trust that in buying our jars from Pattesons we are enabling an international company to do their bit in supporting environmental welfare.

  • Environmental concerns

We use no pesticides in our growing spaces, just natural predation and carnivorous plants!

Plant feed is provided by scavenged seaweed from our gorgeous coastline and soils are a combination of Peat Free compost and our own compost recipe which we have in the garden.

  • Labels

St. Austell Printing Company who do our labels have been named 'the UK' s most environmentally friendly printing company! Not only have they been declared 'one of only a handful of UK printers to be "carbon balanced"' but are close to being 'carbon negative'.

Our labels are generic as we wanted the freedom to express our take on what a relish should be.

The rear label states only the ingredients that go into our relishes, nothing more is added. The handwritten space is our way of stating the chilli used and its approximate SHU.
